An Introduction to Surrealist Screenwriting With Jessie Wray Goodman

Saturday, September 27th Noon - 3PM

PLACE LB 2172 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90806

$12; 12 spots available. Sign up at https://linktr.ee/lbcma

In this 3 hour workshop, we’ll explore the history of surrealism, examples from cinema history, and the art world. Then we will practice surrealist writing through different exercises like automatic writing and found objects to unlock our impulses, imagination, and connections to the unconscious. Putting it together in a final project, we’ll share our scenes on their feet through collaborative ensemble work!

For this workshop, please bring in a Found Object. A found object is anything you discover. It could be a rock, a toy, anything you come across and feel comfortable bringing into the space. Please do not buy anything specific for this work, but instead allow yourself to explore. I will also have objects for you, in case someone forgets to bring theirs.

Open to beginners and no prior writing experience needed!
